What is it used for?
Nimesulide is used for short-term relief of pain, inflammation and fever, such as muscle or joint pain, toothache or painful injuries. It should be used only as directed by a doctor because of its risk of liver problems.

How does it work?
It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine (NSAID). It reduces the production of substances that cause pain, swelling and fever.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, preferably with or after food, and do not use it for longer than advised. Do not take it together with other painkillers or NSAIDs unless a doctor recommends this.

Common side effects
Nausea, indigestion, stomach pain, diarrhoea, dizziness and skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Avoid this medicine if there is liver disease, severe kidney disease, a history of stomach ulcer or bleeding, or an allergy to NSAIDs, unless specifically advised by a doctor. Avoid alcohol and seek medical help for yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, severe stomach pain, vomiting blood, black stools, breathing difficulty or a serious rash. It is generally avoided during pregnancy, especially the last three months, and should not be used in children unless prescribed.
