What is it used for?
Nitroglycerin is used to prevent and relieve angina (chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart). It is generally used regularly to help prevent attacks, as directed by a doctor.

How does it work?
It widens the blood vessels, helping improve blood flow to the heart and reducing the heart’s workload.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed. Follow the product instructions for whether it should be swallowed whole or allowed to dissolve. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice. Seek urgent medical help for new, severe, or persistent chest pain.

Common side effects
Headache, dizziness, flushing, nausea, weakness, and low blood pressure. A fast heartbeat may also occur.

Precautions
Do not use with sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil, or similar medicines for erectile dysfunction or pulmonary hypertension, as this can cause a dangerous fall in blood pressure. Rise slowly if dizzy, and avoid alcohol if it worsens dizziness or low blood pressure. Tell the doctor about low blood pressure, anaemia, or heart problems. Seek immediate medical help for fainting, severe dizziness, or worsening chest pain.
