What is it used for?
Nebivolol is mainly used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It may also be prescribed for certain heart conditions, including heart failure, under specialist medical supervision.
How does it work?
It slows the heart rate and reduces the force with which the heart pumps, helping lower blood pressure. It also helps widen blood vessels, which improves blood flow.
How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, preferably at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet with water. Do not stop it suddenly unless advised by a doctor.
Common side effects
Headache, dizziness, tiredness, nausea, slow heartbeat, low blood pressure, and cold hands or feet.
Precautions
Tell the doctor before use if there is asthma or breathing disease, a slow heartbeat, low blood pressure, heart conduction problems, heart failure, diabetes, or poor circulation. It may hide some warning signs of low blood sugar. Rise slowly if dizzy, and seek medical help for severe breathing difficulty, fainting, or an unusually slow heartbeat.
