What is it used for?
Mupirocin cream is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial skin infections, such as impetigo and infected minor cuts, wounds or other skin injuries.

How does it work?
It stops susceptible bacteria from making essential proteins, which prevents them from growing and helps clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Apply a thin layer to the affected skin exactly as prescribed. Clean and dry the area before use, and wash hands before and after applying it. For external use only; avoid contact with the eyes, mouth and inside of the nose unless specifically prescribed for that use.

Common side effects
Mild burning, stinging, itching, redness or irritation at the application site.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to mupirocin or any ingredient. Stop using it and seek medical help if severe rash, swelling or breathing difficulty occurs. Avoid applying it over large areas or using it for longer than prescribed. Consult a doctor if the infection worsens or does not improve.
