What is it used for?
Ampicillin + cloxacillin is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.
How does it work?
It kills susceptible bacteria by preventing them from building their protective cell wall.
How to take/use it
Use only as prescribed by a doctor, following the directions on the label. Complete the prescribed course unless advised otherwise. The dose, timing and duration depend on the infection and the product form.
Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort and skin rash may occur.
Precautions
Do not use if there has been a serious allergy to penicillin or related antibiotics. Seek urgent medical help for breathing difficulty, facial or throat swelling, or a severe skin rash. Contact a doctor if severe or persistent diarrhoea develops. Use under medical advice in people with liver or kidney problems.
