What is it used for?
Trypsin-chymotrypsin is used to help reduce swelling, inflammation and discomfort after injuries, surgery or other soft-tissue inflammation. It may also be prescribed for some muscle and joint conditions.
How does it work?
These enzymes help break down proteins involved in inflammation and swelling, which may support the body's recovery from tissue injury.
How to take/use it
Take only in the dose and for the duration prescribed by the doctor. If supplied as a tablet, swallow it whole with water; do not chew or crush it unless advised. Do not self-medicate.
Common side effects
Stomach upset, nausea, diarrhoea, skin rash or other allergic reactions may occur.
Precautions
Tell the doctor about bleeding disorders, liver or kidney problems, allergies, or use of blood-thinning medicines. Use only under medical advice before surgery, during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Stop the medicine and seek urgent help for signs of a serious allergic reaction or unusual bleeding.
