What is it used for?
This medicine is used for short-term relief of mild to moderate pain and fever, including pain associated with inflammation such as muscle, joint, dental or menstrual pain.

How does it work?
Mefenamic acid reduces the production of substances that cause pain, swelling and inflammation. Paracetamol helps reduce pain and fever through a different mechanism.

How to take/use it
Take only as prescribed by a doctor or pharmacist. Take it with or after food and swallow with water. Do not take more than the recommended amount or use it for longer than advised. Avoid taking other medicines containing paracetamol or other anti-inflammatory painkillers unless advised by a healthcare professional.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, indigestion, stomach pain, diarrhoea, constipation, dizziness or headache.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to mefenamic acid, paracetamol, aspirin or other anti-inflammatory painkillers. Seek medical advice before use if there is a history of stomach ulcer or bleeding, kidney or liver disease, asthma triggered by painkillers, heart disease or high blood pressure. Avoid alcohol. This medicine may not be suitable during pregnancy, especially in the last 3 months, or while breastfeeding unless prescribed. Stop and seek urgent medical help for black stools, vomiting blood, severe skin rash, breathing difficulty or yellowing of the skin or eyes.
