What is it used for?
Magnesium glycinate is a dietary supplement used to provide magnesium and help prevent or correct low magnesium levels. Magnesium is needed for normal nerve, muscle and bone function.

How does it work?
It supplies magnesium, an essential mineral involved in nerve signalling, muscle contraction and many normal body processes. Glycinate is magnesium bound to glycine.

How to take/use it
Take only as directed on the product label. Do not assume that 2000 mg of magnesium glycinate equals 2000 mg of elemental magnesium. Take with water, and do not exceed the recommended amount.

Common side effects
Nausea, stomach upset, abdominal cramps or diarrhoea may occur, especially with excessive intake.

Precautions
Consult a doctor before use if there is kidney disease, as magnesium can accumulate. Ask a doctor or pharmacist about use with antibiotics, thyroid medicines or medicines for osteoporosis, as magnesium may reduce their absorption and may need to be taken separately. Seek medical advice if supplementation is being used to treat suspected magnesium deficiency.
