What is it used for?
Paracetamol 500 mg is used to reduce fever and relieve mild to moderate pain, such as body aches, headache, toothache and period pain.
How does it work?
It reduces the production of chemicals in the brain that cause pain and fever.
How to take/use it
Take by mouth with water, following the dose and directions on the label or as advised by a doctor. Do not take more than recommended or use it together with other medicines containing paracetamol.
Common side effects
Side effects are uncommon when used as directed. Nausea, stomach discomfort or skin rash may occur.
Precautions
Do not use if allergic to paracetamol. Seek medical advice before use if there is liver disease, regular heavy alcohol use or malnutrition. Taking more than recommended can cause serious liver damage; seek urgent medical help after an overdose, even if feeling well.
