What is it used for?
Ketorolac is used for the short-term relief of moderate to severe acute pain. It is generally intended for short-term use and is not suitable for routine long-term pain control.

How does it work?
It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine (NSAID). It reduces the production of substances that cause pain, swelling and inflammation.

How to take/use it
Use only as prescribed by a doctor. The route of use depends on the prescribed formulation; ketorolac 30 mg may be given by a healthcare professional. Do not self-inject or change the dose without medical advice.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, indigestion, stomach pain, headache, dizziness and drowsiness.

Precautions
It can cause stomach ulcers or bleeding and may affect kidney function. Avoid using it with other NSAID painkillers, such as ibuprofen or diclofenac, unless specifically advised. Tell the doctor about a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding, kidney disease, heart disease, asthma triggered by painkillers, bleeding disorders, or use of blood thinners. Seek urgent help for severe stomach pain, black stools, vomiting blood, breathing difficulty, facial swelling or very little urine. It should generally be avoided during pregnancy, especially later pregnancy, unless prescribed by a doctor.
