What is it used for?
Ketoconazole 2% is an antifungal medicine used in topical products to treat fungal infections of the skin and scalp. Some formulations are also used for dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis.

How does it work?
It stops fungi from making an essential part of their cell membrane, which prevents the fungus from growing.

How to take/use it
Use the cream, shampoo or other formulation exactly as directed on the product label or by a healthcare professional. If it is a topical product, apply or use it only on the affected skin or scalp and wash hands after use. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth and other sensitive areas unless specifically directed.

Common side effects
Mild burning, stinging, itching, redness, irritation or dryness at the application site.

Precautions
For external use unless the product label or healthcare professional says otherwise. Do not use if allergic to ketoconazole or any ingredient. Avoid applying to the eyes or severely damaged skin.
