What is it used for?
Ketoconazole 2% shampoo is used to treat fungal scalp conditions such as dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis. It may also be used for certain fungal skin infections, such as pityriasis versicolor, when prescribed.

How does it work?
It is an antifungal medicine that reduces the growth of fungi on the scalp or skin, helping relieve flaking, itching and irritation.

How to take/use it
Use externally only. Apply to wet hair and scalp or the affected skin, gently massage to form a lather, leave briefly as directed on the label or by the prescriber, and rinse well. Avoid contact with the eyes; rinse thoroughly with water if contact occurs. Use only as often and for as long as recommended.

Common side effects
Mild burning, itching, irritation, dryness or oiliness of the scalp or skin. Changes in hair texture may occur.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to ketoconazole or any ingredient. Avoid contact with the eyes and broken skin. Stop use and seek medical advice if severe irritation, swelling, rash or breathing difficulty occurs. Seek medical advice if symptoms do not improve or worsen.
