What is it used for?
Ketorolac tromethamine is used for the short-term relief of moderate to severe acute pain, such as pain after surgery or injury. It is not usually meant for long-term or mild pain.

How does it work?
It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It reduces the production of substances called prostaglandins that cause pain and inflammation.

How to take/use it
Take it by mouth exactly as prescribed, preferably with food or milk and a full glass of water. Do not take it for longer than prescribed or combine it with other NSAID painkillers unless advised by a doctor.

Common side effects
Stomach pain or discomfort, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness and drowsiness.

Precautions
Use only under medical advice, especially if there is a history of stomach ulcer or bleeding, kidney disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma triggered by painkillers, or bleeding problems. Avoid during pregnancy unless specifically prescribed. Seek urgent medical help for black stools, vomiting blood, severe stomach pain, breathing difficulty, swelling, chest pain or reduced urination.
