What is it used for?
Rosuvastatin 40 mg is used to lower high levels of cholesterol, especially LDL (bad) cholesterol, and to help reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in suitable patients.

How does it work?
It reduces the liver’s production of cholesterol by blocking an enzyme involved in cholesterol formation. This helps remove more LDL cholesterol from the blood.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, with or without food, and swallow it with water. Take it regularly and do not stop it without medical advice. Continue diet and lifestyle measures recommended by the doctor.

Common side effects
Headache, nausea, stomach pain, constipation, and muscle pain may occur. Seek medical advice promptly for severe or unexplained muscle pain or weakness, especially with dark urine.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about liver or kidney disease, thyroid problems, a history of muscle problems, or regular alcohol use. Inform the doctor about all medicines being taken, as some can increase the risk of muscle side effects.
