What is it used for?
Used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How does it work?
Dapagliflozin helps the kidneys remove excess glucose through urine. Sitagliptin increases the body's natural insulin response after meals and reduces the release of glucose from the liver.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed by the doctor, with or without food. Do not stop or change the medicine without medical advice. Maintain adequate fluid intake unless fluid restriction has been advised.

Common side effects
Increased urination, genital fungal infections, urinary tract infections, thirst, dehydration, headache, nausea and stomach discomfort. Low blood sugar is more likely when used with insulin or sulfonylureas.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney disease, dehydration, recurrent urinary or genital infections, pancreatitis, or planned surgery. Seek urgent medical help for severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, difficulty breathing, unusual weakness, or signs of severe dehydration. Stop and seek medical advice if symptoms of diabetic ketoacidosis occur, even if blood sugar is not very high. Discuss use during pregnancy or breastfeeding with a doctor.
