What is it used for?
Ketoconazole 2% is an antifungal medicine used to treat fungal infections of the skin or scalp, such as ringworm, athlete’s foot, jock itch, pityriasis versicolor, dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis, depending on the product formulation.

How does it work?
It stops fungi from making an essential part of their cell membrane, which prevents their growth and helps clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Use the cream, gel or shampoo exactly as directed on the label or by the doctor. Apply or use it only on the affected skin or scalp, as appropriate for the formulation. Avoid contact with the eyes and wash hands after use unless the hands are being treated. Do not swallow it.

Common side effects
Mild burning, stinging, itching, redness, dryness or irritation at the application site.

Precautions
For external use only unless specifically prescribed otherwise. Avoid the eyes, mouth and inside of the nose. Stop using it and seek medical advice if severe irritation, swelling, rash or breathing difficulty occurs. Tell the doctor if symptoms worsen or do not improve as expected.
