What is it used for?
Ketoconazole 2% is an antifungal medicine used for fungal infections of the skin and scalp, such as ringworm, athlete’s foot, jock itch, pityriasis versicolor and dandruff-related seborrhoeic dermatitis, depending on the product form.
How does it work?
It stops fungi from making an essential part of their cell membrane, which helps clear the infection.
How to take/use it
Use only in the form and manner directed on the product label or by a doctor. Do not swallow a topical product. Avoid contact with the eyes and wash hands after use unless the hands are being treated.
Common side effects
Mild burning, stinging, itching, redness, dryness or irritation at the application site.
Precautions
For external use unless specifically prescribed otherwise. Avoid the eyes, mouth and broken or severely irritated skin. Stop use and seek medical advice if severe irritation, swelling, rash or breathing difficulty occurs, or if the infection does not improve as expected.
