What is it used for?

It stops susceptible bacteria from making essential proteins, which kills the bacteria or prevents them from multiplying.

Common side effects

Kidney function and, when needed, blood levels and hearing may be monitored during treatment. Inform the doctor about all other medicines, especially those that can affect the kidneys or hearing. Seek medical help for reduced urination, unusual thirst, ringing in the ears, hearing changes, severe dizziness or difficulty breathing.
