What is it used for?
Used to prevent or treat iron and folic acid deficiencies that may cause anaemia. It also provides vitamin B12, which is important for healthy red blood cell formation.

How does it work?
Iron helps the body make haemoglobin, which carries oxygen in the blood. Folic acid and vitamin B12 support the formation of healthy red blood cells.

How to take/use it
Take by mouth exactly as directed by a doctor or pharmacist. Measure the liquid with a suitable measuring device. Do not take more than recommended, and do not stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Nausea, stomach discomfort, constipation, diarrhoea and dark-coloured stools may occur. Sorbitol may also cause loose stools in some people.

Precautions
Keep out of reach of children, as an iron overdose can be dangerous. Tell the doctor about any existing medical conditions or other medicines being taken. Iron may interact with some medicines and supplements; medical advice may be needed about the timing of doses. Seek medical help for severe vomiting, severe abdominal pain, allergic reactions or accidental overdose.
