Composition:
Glimepiride 2 mg per tablet.
Uses:
Used to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes when diet, exercise, and lifestyle measures alone are not sufficient. It belongs to the sulfonylurea group and works mainly by stimulating the pancreas to release insulin.
How to Use:
Take only as prescribed by your doctor. It is usually taken shortly before or with the first main meal of the day. Swallow the tablet with water. Do not skip meals while taking glimepiride. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.
Precautions & Warnings:
Inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, G6PD deficiency, or a history of low blood sugar. Glimepiride can cause hypoglycaemia, particularly if you skip meals, eat less than usual, exercise heavily, or consume alcohol. Symptoms include sweating, shaking, hunger, dizziness, weakness, blurred vision, and confusion.
Possible Side Effects:
Common side effects include low blood sugar, nausea, headache, dizziness, stomach discomfort, and weight gain. Rarely, blood disorders, liver problems, or serious allergic/skin reactions may occur. Seek urgent medical attention for severe or persistent hypoglycaemia, loss of consciousness, difficulty breathing, severe rash, or yellowing of the skin or eyes.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding:
Glimepiride is generally not recommended during pregnancy. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. An alternative diabetes treatment may be recommended.
Storage:
Store at room temperature in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach and sight of children. Do not use after the expiry date.
Important Safety Information:
Take glimepiride exactly as prescribed and follow your recommended diet and exercise plan. Do not skip meals. Keep a quick source of glucose available in case symptoms of low blood sugar occur. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption. Regular blood glucose monitoring may be required.
