Composition:
Glimepiride 1 mg + Metformin 1000 mg per tablet.
Uses:
Used to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes when diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes alone are not sufficient. Glimepiride stimulates the pancreas to release insulin, while metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and improves insulin sensitivity.
How to Use:
Take only as prescribed by your doctor. It is generally taken with or immediately after a meal. Swallow the tablet with water. Do not skip meals while taking glimepiride. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.
Precautions & Warnings:
Inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, heart failure, G6PD deficiency, or a history of low blood sugar. Glimepiride can cause hypoglycaemia, particularly if meals are skipped, alcohol is consumed, or the dose is too high. Metformin may rarely cause lactic acidosis, especially with significant kidney impairment. Inform your doctor before major surgery, prolonged fasting, or imaging procedures involving iodinated contrast.
Possible Side Effects:
Common side effects may include low blood sugar, nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, indigestion, headache, dizziness, and weight gain. Seek urgent medical attention for severe or persistent low blood sugar, loss of consciousness, difficulty breathing, persistent vomiting, severe abdominal pain, unusual weakness, or confusion.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding:
Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Glimepiride is generally not preferred during pregnancy, and your doctor may recommend an alternative diabetes treatment.
Storage:
Store at room temperature in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach and sight of children. Do not use after the expiry date.
Important Safety Information:
Take this medicine exactly as prescribed and follow your recommended diet and exercise plan. Keep a quick source of glucose available in case symptoms of low blood sugar occur. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption. Regular monitoring of blood glucose and kidney function may be required.
