What is it used for?
Ganciclovir is an antiviral medicine used to treat serious cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections, especially in people with weakened immunity. It may also be used for CMV retinitis and, in some cases, to prevent CMV infection after an organ transplant.

How does it work?
It blocks the ability of CMV to make new copies of itself, helping control the infection.

How to take/use it

Common side effects
Low white blood cell, red blood cell or platelet counts; nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, headache and tiredness.
