What is it used for?
Fexofenadine is an antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny or itchy nose, and itchy or watery eyes. It is also used to relieve itching and hives (urticaria).

How does it work?
It blocks the action of histamine, a substance released during allergic reactions. This helps reduce allergy symptoms and itching.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as directed on the label or by a doctor. Swallow the tablet with water. Avoid taking it with apple, orange or grapefruit juice, as these may reduce its effect. If using aluminium- or magnesium-containing antacids, take them separately as advised by a healthcare professional.

Common side effects
Headache, nausea, dizziness and tiredness may occur. Fexofenadine usually causes less drowsiness than some older antihistamines, but drowsiness can still occur in some people.

Precautions
Tell a doctor if there is kidney disease, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Avoid driving or operating machinery if dizziness or drowsiness occurs. Seek urgent medical help for swelling of the face, lips or throat, breathing difficulty, or a severe skin reaction.
