What is it used for?
Fexofenadine is used to relieve allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny or itchy nose, and itchy or watery eyes. It is also used to relieve itching and hives (urticaria).

How does it work?
It is an antihistamine that blocks the action of histamine, a substance involved in allergic reactions. This helps reduce allergy symptoms and itching.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as directed on the label or by a doctor. Swallow the tablet with water. Avoid taking it with apple, orange or grapefruit juice, as these may reduce its effect. Antacids containing aluminium or magnesium should generally be taken at least 2 hours apart.

Common side effects
Headache, nausea, dizziness and tiredness may occur. Drowsiness is uncommon but possible.

Precautions
Tell a doctor before use if there is kidney disease, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Avoid driving or operating machinery if dizziness or drowsiness occurs. Seek urgent medical help for swelling of the face, lips or throat, breathing difficulty, or a severe allergic reaction.
