What is it used for?
This combination is a prescription antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections when considered appropriate by a doctor. It does not work for viral infections such as common cold or flu.

How does it work?
Cefixime damages the bacterial cell wall, while ofloxacin blocks enzymes needed for bacterial growth and reproduction. Together, they help kill susceptible bacteria.

How to take/use it
Take only as prescribed by a doctor and complete the prescribed course. It may be taken with or without food, but follow the product label or medical advice. Do not self-medicate or share this medicine.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, dizziness and indigestion. Seek medical help for severe or persistent diarrhoea, rash, breathing difficulty, tendon pain or numbness/tingling.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about allergies to cephalosporins, penicillins or quinolone antibiotics, kidney disease, seizures, heart rhythm problems, tendon problems, or previous antibiotic-related diarrhoea. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only on medical advice. Antacids and supplements containing iron, calcium, magnesium or aluminium may interfere with ofloxacin; ask a doctor or pharmacist about timing. Avoid unnecessary sun exposure and stop strenuous exercise if tendon pain occurs.
