What is it used for?
Etoricoxib is used to relieve pain, swelling and stiffness caused by osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and other joint conditions. It may also be prescribed for short-term treatment of acute gout or other severe pain, as directed by a doctor.

How does it work?
It selectively blocks COX-2 enzymes that produce substances responsible for pain and inflammation. This helps reduce pain, swelling and stiffness.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Swallow the tablet with water, with or without food. Do not take more than prescribed or use it for longer than recommended.

Common side effects
Indigestion, stomach pain, nausea, headache, dizziness, swelling of the feet or legs and increased blood pressure may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor if there is a history of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, stomach ulcer or bleeding, kidney disease, liver disease or allergy to painkillers. Avoid taking it with other anti-inflammatory painkillers unless advised by a doctor. Seek medical help for chest pain, breathing difficulty, black stools, severe stomach pain, facial swelling or a serious skin rash. It is generally avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless specifically prescribed.
