What is it used for?
Etamsylate is used to help reduce or prevent bleeding, including heavy menstrual bleeding and bleeding from small blood vessels, when prescribed by a doctor.
How does it work?
It helps small blood vessels resist leakage and supports the action of platelets, which help form blood clots.
How to take/use it
Take it only as prescribed by the doctor. Swallow the tablet with water and do not change the dose or duration without medical advice. Seek medical attention for heavy, persistent or unexplained bleeding.
Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness or skin rash may occur.
Precautions
Do not use if allergic to etamsylate. Tell the doctor about acute porphyria or a history of blood clots before use. Seek urgent care for severe allergic symptoms, unusual worsening of bleeding or symptoms suggestive of a blood clot.
