What is it used for?
Ondansetron 4 mg tablets are used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting, including nausea and vomiting related to chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery. Use it only as directed by a doctor.
How does it work?
Ondansetron blocks serotonin signals that can trigger nausea and vomiting.
How to take/use it
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed. Follow the timing instructions given by the doctor, especially if it is being used around chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery. Do not take more or for longer than advised.
Common side effects
Headache, constipation, diarrhoea, tiredness and dizziness.
Precautions
Tell the doctor if there is a history of abnormal heart rhythm, long QT syndrome, low potassium or magnesium levels, liver disease, or an allergy to ondansetron. It may affect heart rhythm and can interact with some medicines, including apomorphine and certain medicines that affect heart rhythm or serotonin levels. Seek medical help for fainting, a fast or irregular heartbeat, severe allergic symptoms or severe agitation with sweating, fever and muscle stiffness.
