What is it used for?
Dydrogesterone is used to treat conditions caused by low or ineffective progesterone, such as irregular or painful periods, endometriosis, and some fertility or pregnancy-related problems. It may also be prescribed with oestrogen during hormone replacement therapy to protect the lining of the womb.

How does it work?
It is a synthetic form of the natural hormone progesterone. It helps regulate the womb lining and supports a normal menstrual cycle.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, as the dose and treatment schedule vary depending on the condition. Swallow the tablet with water and try to take it at the same time each day. Do not stop treatment or take a double dose after a missed dose without medical advice.

Common side effects
Headache or migraine, nausea, abdominal discomfort, breast tenderness, changes in menstrual bleeding, or spotting may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about unexplained vaginal bleeding, liver problems, a history of hormone-sensitive cancer, migraine, or depression. Seek medical advice if jaundice, severe abdominal pain, or unusual bleeding occurs. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only when prescribed.
