What is it used for?
Doxofylline is used to help prevent and control breathing difficulty, wheezing and chest tightness caused by asthma and other obstructive airway conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

How does it work?
It relaxes the muscles around the airways, helping them open and making breathing easier.

How to take/use it
Take it by mouth exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice. It is not generally a substitute for a prescribed rescue inhaler during a sudden breathing attack.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, headache, difficulty sleeping, dizziness, tremor and fast or irregular heartbeat may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor before use if there is heart disease, high blood pressure, a history of seizures, liver or kidney problems, or pregnancy or breastfeeding. Seek medical help for severe palpitations, persistent vomiting, seizures or worsening breathing difficulty. Avoid taking other medicines or excessive caffeine without checking with a doctor or pharmacist.
