What is it used for?
Paracetamol 500 mg is used to reduce fever and relieve mild to moderate pain, such as headache, toothache, body pain, muscle aches and menstrual pain.

How does it work?
It reduces the production of substances in the body that contribute to pain and fever. It helps lower a raised temperature and provides pain relief.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as directed on the package or by a doctor or pharmacist. Swallow with water, with or without food. Do not take more than the recommended amount or use it more often than advised. Check other medicines to make sure they do not also contain paracetamol.

Common side effects
Usually well tolerated when used as directed. Nausea or mild stomach discomfort may occur.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to paracetamol. Consult a doctor before use if there is liver disease, regular heavy alcohol use, or severe malnutrition. Avoid taking it with other paracetamol-containing medicines. Taking too much can cause serious liver damage; seek urgent medical help after an overdose, even if feeling well. Stop use and seek medical help if a severe skin rash, swelling or breathing difficulty occurs.
