What is it used for?
This cream is used on the skin for certain inflamed skin conditions complicated by bacterial or fungal infection. It should be used only when prescribed, as the steroid component is very potent.

How does it work?
Clobetasol reduces skin inflammation, redness and itching. Neomycin and chlorhexidine act against bacteria, while miconazole acts against fungi.

How to take/use it
For external use only. Apply a thin layer to the affected skin exactly as directed by the doctor. Wash hands before and after use, unless treating the hands. Do not cover the area with a bandage or dressing unless advised.

Common side effects
Burning, stinging, irritation, redness, itching or allergic rash. Prolonged or repeated use may cause skin thinning, stretch marks or changes in skin colour.

Precautions
Avoid the eyes, mouth and other mucous membranes. Do not use on the face, groin, underarms, broken skin or large areas unless specifically advised. Do not use for longer than prescribed, and do not self-treat with it because the steroid may worsen or mask an infection. Avoid use if allergic to clobetasol, neomycin, miconazole, chlorhexidine or similar ingredients. Seek medical advice if the infection worsens or a severe rash, swelling or breathing difficulty occurs.
