What is it used for?
Diclofenac injection is used for short-term relief of moderate to severe pain and inflammation, such as pain affecting the muscles, joints or bones, and other acute painful conditions when an injection is needed.

How does it work?
It reduces the production of substances called prostaglandins that cause pain, swelling and inflammation.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given by injection, usually by a doctor or nurse. It should not be self-injected. The dose and duration depend on the condition and must be decided by a healthcare professional.

Common side effects
Injection-site pain or irritation, nausea, indigestion, stomach pain, diarrhoea, headache and dizziness may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about any history of stomach ulcer or bleeding, asthma or allergy after painkillers, kidney or liver disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, or blood-clotting problems. Avoid using it with other NSAID painkillers unless advised. Seek urgent medical help for black stools, vomiting blood, severe allergic symptoms, chest pain or breathing difficulty. It is generally avoided during the last three months of pregnancy and should only be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding on medical advice.
