What is it used for?
Diclofenac sodium is used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation, especially in muscle, joint and arthritis-related conditions.

How does it work?
It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It reduces the production of substances in the body that cause pain, swelling and inflammation.

How to take/use it
Use exactly as prescribed or directed on the label. Do not take more than recommended or use it for longer than advised. If taking it by mouth, taking it with or after food may help reduce stomach irritation. Do not combine it with other NSAID painkillers unless advised by a doctor.

Common side effects
Indigestion, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache and dizziness.

Precautions
Tell a doctor before use if there is a history of stomach ulcer or bleeding, kidney or liver disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma triggered by painkillers, or an allergy to NSAIDs. Seek medical help for black stools, vomiting blood, severe stomach pain, chest pain, breathing difficulty, facial swelling or a serious skin reaction. Avoid use during pregnancy unless specifically advised, particularly after 20 weeks. Inform the doctor about blood thinners, steroids, other painkillers or regular medicines being taken.
