What is it used for?
Dapagliflozin 10 mg + Metformin SR is used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How does it work?
Metformin reduces the amount of glucose made by the liver and improves the body's response to insulin. Dapagliflozin helps the kidneys remove excess glucose from the body through urine.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, preferably with food to reduce stomach upset. Swallow the sustained-release tablet whole; do not crush or chew it. Continue the recommended diet and exercise plan, and do not change or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, increased urination, genital fungal infections, urinary tract infections, thirst and dehydration may occur. Low blood sugar is more likely when used with insulin or certain other diabetes medicines.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney, liver or heart problems, recurrent urinary or genital infections, or heavy alcohol use. Drink enough fluids unless advised otherwise. Seek urgent medical help for severe weakness, vomiting, stomach pain, difficulty breathing, confusion, or unusual drowsiness, as these may indicate lactic acidosis or diabetic ketoacidosis. Inform the doctor before surgery, prolonged fasting, or a procedure using contrast dye. Discuss use during pregnancy or breastfeeding with the doctor.
