What is it used for?
This medicine is used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes.

How does it work?
Metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and helps the body use insulin better. Dapagliflozin helps the kidneys remove excess glucose from the body through urine.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, preferably with food. Swallow the extended-release tablet whole; do not crush, chew or split it. Drink enough fluids unless a doctor has advised fluid restriction.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, increased urination, urinary tract infection, and genital fungal infection. Low blood sugar is more likely when used with insulin or certain other diabetes medicines.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, dehydration, heavy alcohol use, or planned surgery or prolonged fasting. Seek urgent medical help for severe nausea or vomiting, stomach pain, unusual tiredness, difficulty breathing, confusion, or signs of severe dehydration. Report burning urination, fever, or genital itching or swelling. This medicine may need to be stopped temporarily during serious illness or some medical procedures, only as advised by a doctor.
