What is it used for?
Used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes.

How does it work?
Dapagliflozin helps the kidneys remove excess glucose through urine. Metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and helps the body use insulin better.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, preferably with food, to reduce stomach upset. Swallow the tablet whole unless advised otherwise. Take adequate fluids and do not change or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, increased urination, thirst, dehydration, urinary tract infection and genital fungal infection.

Precautions
Inform the doctor about kidney or liver problems, dehydration, recurrent urinary or genital infections, or heavy alcohol use. Seek urgent medical help for severe weakness, vomiting, stomach pain, difficulty breathing, confusion, or unusual tiredness, as these may indicate serious complications. The medicine may need to be stopped temporarily during severe illness, prolonged fasting, dehydration or before certain surgery; follow medical advice. Monitor blood sugar as recommended.
