What is it used for?
Ketoconazole 2% is an antifungal medicine used on the skin or scalp to treat fungal infections, including dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis when prescribed or labelled for these conditions.

How does it work?
It stops fungi from making ergosterol, an essential part of their cell membrane. This prevents the fungi from growing and helps clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Use only on the affected skin or scalp and follow the product label or prescriber's instructions. Clean and dry the area before application if advised. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth and other sensitive areas. Wash hands after use unless the hands are being treated.

Common side effects
Mild burning, stinging, itching, redness, irritation or dryness at the application site.

Precautions
For external use unless specifically directed otherwise. Do not use if allergic to ketoconazole or any ingredient. Avoid contact with the eyes and rinse well with water if this occurs. Stop use and seek medical advice if severe irritation, swelling, rash or breathing difficulty develops, or if the condition worsens or does not improve as expected.
