What is it used for?
Used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How does it work?
Metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and improves the body's response to insulin. Glimepiride helps the pancreas release more insulin, lowering blood sugar.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, preferably with or just after food. Do not skip meals, change the dose, or stop treatment without medical advice. Monitor blood sugar as advised.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, vomiting, headache, dizziness, and low blood sugar. Low blood sugar may cause sweating, shaking, hunger, weakness, or confusion.

Precautions
Use only under medical supervision if there is kidney or liver disease, heart failure, heavy alcohol use, or a history of lactic acidosis. Inform the doctor before surgery, prolonged fasting, or certain medical scans using contrast dye. Avoid alcohol, and take care when driving if dizziness or low blood sugar occurs. Seek urgent medical help for severe weakness, breathing difficulty, persistent vomiting, or unusual sleepiness.
