What is it used for?
Used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes when one medicine alone is not sufficient.

How does it work?
Metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and helps the body use insulin better. Glimepiride helps the pancreas release more insulin, lowering blood sugar.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, usually with or just after food to reduce stomach upset. Take it at the same time each day and do not skip meals. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach upset, abdominal discomfort, and loss of appetite may occur. Low blood sugar can cause sweating, shaking, dizziness, hunger, or weakness. Weight gain may also occur.

Precautions
Use only under medical supervision if there are kidney or liver problems, heart failure, severe infection, or heavy alcohol use. Tell the doctor before surgery or an X-ray scan using an iodine contrast dye. Monitor blood sugar regularly and carry a source of fast-acting sugar for symptoms of low blood sugar. Seek urgent medical help for severe weakness, breathing difficulty, persistent vomiting, or unusual sleepiness. Take extra care in older adults and do not drive if blood sugar is low.
