What is it used for?
Clopidogrel is an antiplatelet medicine used to help prevent harmful blood clots. It may be prescribed after a heart attack, stroke, certain heart-related conditions, or a coronary stent, as directed by a doctor.

How does it work?
It makes platelets in the blood less likely to stick together and form clots. This helps reduce the risk of further heart attacks and strokes.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed and swallow the tablet with water. It may be taken with or without food. Take it regularly and do not stop it without medical advice, especially after a heart procedure. Do not take an extra dose if a dose is missed without checking with a doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Easy bruising, prolonged bleeding from small cuts, nosebleeds, indigestion, stomach discomfort, or diarrhoea may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about any history of stomach ulcers, bleeding problems, liver disease, or an upcoming surgery or dental procedure. Inform the doctor or pharmacist about all other medicines, especially blood thinners, painkillers such as ibuprofen or aspirin, and acid-reducing medicines such as omeprazole or esomeprazole. Seek urgent medical help for heavy or unusual bleeding, black stools, blood in vomit or urine, or sudden weakness, confusion, or difficulty speaking.
