What is it used for?
Amoxycillin with clavulanate is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections, including infections of the ears, sinuses, throat, lungs, skin, urinary tract and teeth, when prescribed by a healthcare professional. It does not treat viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
Amoxycillin kills bacteria by stopping them from building their protective cell wall. Clavulanate helps protect amoxycillin from enzymes made by some resistant bacteria, allowing it to work more effectively.

How to take/use it
Use only in the dose and for the duration prescribed. Shake the suspension well before each use and measure it with the supplied measuring device. Complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve. Do not use leftover medicine or share it with others.

Common side effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort and skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Do not use if there has been a serious allergy to penicillin, amoxycillin, other beta-lactam antibiotics or any ingredient. Inform the healthcare professional about liver disease, kidney disease or previous antibiotic-related jaundice or liver problems. Seek medical help for breathing difficulty, swelling, severe rash, persistent or bloody diarrhoea, or yellowing of the skin or eyes.
