What is it used for?
Cinnarizine is used to prevent and relieve motion sickness and to treat dizziness or vertigo, including symptoms such as spinning sensation, nausea and vomiting caused by inner-ear problems.
How does it work?
It reduces excessive stimulation of the balance centre in the inner ear and has an antihistamine effect, helping to control dizziness, nausea and vomiting.
How to take/use it
Take it only as directed by a doctor or according to the product label. Do not take more than recommended. It may be taken with food if it causes stomach upset. Avoid driving or operating machinery until its effect is known.
Common side effects
Drowsiness, dry mouth, indigestion, stomach discomfort and weight gain may occur.
Precautions
Avoid alcohol and use caution with other medicines that cause drowsiness. Consult a doctor before use if there is Parkinson’s disease, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Seek medical advice if dizziness is severe, new, persistent or associated with hearing loss, weakness or severe headache.
