What is it used for?
Used to relieve symptoms of allergies, especially allergic rhinitis such as sneezing, runny or blocked nose, and itchy or watery eyes.
How does it work?
Levocetirizine blocks histamine, a substance involved in allergy symptoms. Montelukast blocks leukotrienes, chemicals that contribute to allergic inflammation and swelling in the airways and nose.
How to take/use it
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed. Do not change the dose or duration without medical advice. Do not take more than recommended.
Common side effects
Sleepiness or drowsiness, headache, tiredness, dry mouth, stomach pain, nausea, or diarrhoea.
Precautions
Drowsiness may occur; avoid driving or alcohol until its effect is known. Tell the doctor about kidney problems or use of sedative medicines. Stop the medicine and seek medical advice if unusual dreams, sleep problems, agitation, depression, mood or behaviour changes, or suicidal thoughts occur. This medicine is not intended to relieve a sudden breathing attack.
