What is it used for?
Cefpodoxime is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections, including infections of the throat and lungs, urinary tract, skin, and other parts of the body. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
It stops susceptible bacteria from forming their protective cell wall, which kills the bacteria and helps clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve, and do not share it with others. If a dose is missed, follow the instructions provided by the doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain, indigestion, headache, and skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Do not use it if there is a known serious allergy to cefpodoxime, cephalosporins, or other beta-lactam antibiotics unless specifically advised by a doctor. Tell the doctor about kidney disease or previous antibiotic-related diarrhoea. Seek medical help for severe or persistent diarrhoea, breathing difficulty, facial swelling, or a severe skin rash. Use only for a confirmed or suspected bacterial infection as prescribed.
