What is it used for?
Cefpodoxime with clavulanic acid is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections. It does not work against viral infections such as the common cold or flu.

How does it work?
Cefpodoxime stops bacteria from forming their protective cell wall. Clavulanic acid helps protect cefpodoxime from enzymes made by some resistant bacteria, allowing it to work more effectively.

How to take/use it
Use only as prescribed by the doctor. Follow the prescribed dose and schedule, and complete the full course even if symptoms improve. Do not share leftover medicine or use it for a future infection.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain and indigestion may occur. Skin rash can also occur.

Precautions
Do not use if there is a known allergy to cefpodoxime, other cephalosporin antibiotics or serious allergy to penicillin-type antibiotics. Tell the doctor about kidney disease, previous antibiotic-related diarrhoea, or any history of severe medicine allergies. Seek medical help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, severe rash, or severe or persistent diarrhoea.
