What is it used for?
Cefoperazone + sulbactam injection is an antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections, such as infections of the lungs, urinary tract, abdomen, skin and soft tissues, bones and joints, or blood. It is used only when prescribed by a doctor.

How does it work?
Cefoperazone kills susceptible bacteria by stopping them from building their protective cell wall. Sulbactam helps cefoperazone work against bacteria that produce enzymes that can make some antibiotics ineffective.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given by injection into a vein or muscle by a doctor or nurse. The dose and treatment duration depend on the type and severity of infection and the patient's health. Complete the prescribed course unless the doctor advises otherwise.

Common side effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, rash, itching, and pain or redness at the injection site may occur. Changes in liver tests or blood counts can also occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about allergies to penicillins, cephalosporins or other antibiotics, liver or kidney problems, bleeding or clotting problems, and use of blood-thinning medicines. Seek urgent medical help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, severe skin rash, unusual bleeding, or severe or persistent diarrhoea. Avoid alcohol during treatment and for several days after the last dose unless the doctor advises otherwise.
