What is it used for?
Roxithromycin is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections, including infections of the throat, ears, sinuses, chest, skin and urinary or genital tract. It does not work for viral infections such as common colds or flu.

How does it work?
It stops susceptible bacteria from making the proteins they need to grow and multiply.

How to take/use it
Take it only as prescribed by a doctor. Follow the prescribed dose and duration, swallow the tablet with water, and complete the course even if symptoms improve. Do not share leftover antibiotics.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, indigestion, headache, dizziness and skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about allergies to roxithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics, liver disease, heart rhythm problems, or a history of abnormal heart rhythm. Tell the doctor about all other medicines being taken because roxithromycin can interact with some medicines. Seek medical help for severe or persistent diarrhoea, yellowing of the skin or eyes, severe rash, swelling, breathing difficulty or a fast or irregular heartbeat.
