What is it used for?
This medicine is used to relieve neuropathic (nerve) pain, which may feel like burning, tingling, numbness or shooting pain caused by irritated or damaged nerves.
How does it work?
Pregabalin reduces excessive nerve signalling, while nortriptyline changes pain-related chemical signals in the nervous system. Together, they help reduce nerve pain.
How to take/use it
Take it by mouth exactly as prescribed, with or without food. Take it at the same time each day. Do not stop it suddenly without medical advice.
Common side effects
Drowsiness, dizziness, tiredness, blurred vision, dry mouth, constipation, nausea, increased appetite and weight gain may occur.
Precautions
Avoid alcohol and be careful driving or operating machinery until the effects are known. Tell the doctor about kidney disease, glaucoma, urinary retention, heart problems, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Seek medical help for severe mood changes, suicidal thoughts, facial or throat swelling, or breathing difficulty.
