What is it used for?
Ofloxacin is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.
How does it work?
It stops susceptible bacteria from making the enzymes needed for their growth and survival.
How to take/use it
Use it exactly as prescribed and follow the instructions on the product label. Complete the prescribed course unless a healthcare professional tells otherwise. Do not share it or use leftover medicine.
Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, dizziness and sleep disturbance may occur.
Precautions
Do not use if allergic to ofloxacin or other quinolone antibiotics. Seek medical advice for tendon pain or swelling, numbness or tingling, severe mood or nerve-related symptoms, or severe/persistent diarrhoea. Tell the healthcare professional about pregnancy, breastfeeding, kidney problems, seizure disorders, heart rhythm problems or previous tendon problems. Avoid driving if dizzy or drowsy.
